Short-day strawberry cultivar similar to Camarosa .Released in 2001 by University of California.

Plants of Ventana are large, vigorous, more open and erect than Camarosa’s plants so they are easier to harvest.

The plants are adapted to early planting (around October 1). Ventana initiates fruit production slightly earlier than Camarosa and produces more early season yield. The total yield of Ventana is greater than Camarosa.

Ventana Plants are more resistant to powdery mildew and moderately susceptible to Phytophthora Coctorum and Verticilluim.

Fruits of Ventana have better shape, size, similar firmness and shelf life for those of Camarosa. Fruits are lighter with brighter red color of Camarosa, with very good taste.

Unlike Camarosa, Ventana fruits are tolerant to rain and weather conditions and they are similar in market handling.
